As part of the implementation of the national program commemorating the 64th anniversary of the National Day of Migration, which marks the October 17, 1961 demonstrations, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, took part today, alongside his government colleague, the Minister of Mujahideen and Right Holders, Mr. Abdelmalek Tacherift, in the National Conference entitled "Sons and Daughters of the Algerian Community Abroad – The Sacredness of Belonging and Continuity of Loyalty."
The event was held at the National Army Club.

In his address on this occasion, the Secretary of State highlighted the symbolism and significance of commemorating the National Day of Migration each year on this date. He emphasized the importance of the decision by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the October 17, 1961 demonstrations in Paris, as a tribute to the immense sacrifices made by the sons and daughters of the national community abroad and in recognition of their historic, decisive, and active role in the struggle for freedom and independence. He also stressed the need to preserve this legacy in the memory of future generations.

Mr. Chaib further recalled the continuous and dedicated efforts made by the Algerian state since independence to integrate the national community abroad into various policies aimed at strengthening its ties with the homeland and involving it in national development efforts.
He also praised the achievements and gains granted to this important segment of Algerian society in recent years, under the special attention of the country’s highest authorities, who remain committed to protecting the national community abroad and enhancing its effective and meaningful contribution to the process of national development.
