Mr.Magramane delivered a speech during his participation in the signing ceremony for the agreement on combating cybercrime.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Lounès Magramane, said in Hanoi, Vietnam, that Algeria’s official signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime underscores its firm commitment to multilateral action and international cooperation as an effective mechanism to tackle new global challenges.

In a speech delivered during a high-level conference, as part of his participation in the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, which is taking place Saturday and Sunday in Hanoi, Magramane commended Algeria’s role in chairing the Special Committee responsible for drafting this convention.

He emphasized that Algeria’s signing of this convention demonstrates the country’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation, as an effective mechanism for tackling emerging global challenges.

The convention establishes a binding legal framework for collective action against the diverse risks posed by cybercrime. It provides for setting up mechanisms to adapt traditional criminal investigations to the digital environment and establishing a global system for sharing electronic evidence in serious criminal cases.

Discussing Algeria’s domestic efforts, Magramane emphasized the major interest shown by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in digital transformation, making it a central national priority through the adoption of an ambitious strategy in this area.

On this occasion, organizers applauded Algeria’s role and sustained efforts through Ambassador Fouzia Mebarki, who successfully led the negotiation process over four years as chair of the Special Committee that drafted the convention text. These efforts led to its adoption by the UN and the opening of the signing ceremony in Hanoi.

The adoption of this convention adds to the diplomatic achievements Algeria has secured in recent years under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s leadership.
